The sad tone of this movie didn`t fit the typical happy Hollywood musical format. That`s probably why is wasn`t a commercial success. However, the dance numbers are incredible and therefore the movie is very enjoyable.

A great musical. It makes me wonder why it`s not more well known. The trash can lid dance, Gene Kelly on rollerskates, Cyd Charisse, And Dolores Gray`s sultry number are worth seeing.
